Situations in which you could have used backups.
Some people think that since they never have computer virus problems, you don’t need to make backups. They are reassured that their information is safe from any computer activity and that they will not encounter any difficulties at any time. However, this peace of mind is not based on reality. The truth is that not having a backup system is dangerous for any company or individual.
Let’s see what backups can do for you. More than one of these situations can occur even on computers with a very low incident rate, so it is still advisable that, despite all our precautions, we protect our security through an automatic file backup.
Situations in which it would have been good for you to have backup copies.
There are a variety of circumstances, always unforeseen, in which. we could have benefited greatly from backups. The problem is that at the time we thought it was not important. So that this situation does not happen to you again, I advise you to start worrying about using a backup program.
- The hard disk C is damaged: and everything on it has been erased. Although you may still have options to recover what was on the disk, if you have not made an image of the disk and saved it to a different space, you may not see those files again.
- The operating system has experienced an error: and you can’t even get into “safe mode”, from the BIOS. Although there may be several alternatives to try to boot the PC, ultimately you may have to format and install Windows from scratch again. How do you save everything if you can’t get in? There are ways to accomplish this, such as installing Windows on another drive and without formatting, but even then, if you had backups, the problem would be solved faster.
- The hardware has burned out: literally. There has been a fire in your room, the battery has exploded, or the server has caught fire from excess heat. There is no recovery program that can recover your files from the ashes. However, everything you have in the cloud will have been saved from burning.
- Human error: yes, mistakes happen. Sometimes you delete a file and hit empty recycle garbage can. And you don’t know how to find it again. The most convenient thing would be if that file was in the cloud and you could access it, even if you made a mistake deleting it. Or if someone with bad intentions has gotten into your computer and deleted it.
I hope this article has helped you. When was the last time you needed backups? Do you regularly back up your PC?
