When to restore your backups?
There are certain times when it makes sense to restore backup copies of our files.
It would be much easier if we could restore the latest files and programs, than having to save everything we have on the computer at the time to try to take it to another computer or the same computer when we have fixed the computer problems.
Unfortunately, many SMBs do not have a strategy of cloud backups that allows them to do this. So, when some kind of IT incident occurs, they are faced with a major problem that requires the help of a good IT services company.
In which cases would it be advisable for you to have backups and restore them? Although this is not always the only solution to a problem, there are several times when it would be very useful to have an updated backup.
Cases in which you need backups in the cloud.
Let’s look at several situations where it is convenient for you to be able to restore backups.
1. When you are going to move to another computer.
Suppose you are going to replace your current computers with new ones. If all your data is on the computers, you will not be able to get rid of these computers until you have a copy of all the data.
Often, if we don’t have the data sorted out properly, you may end up leaving something behind. Not to mention that you will have to go back to find and install the programs you need, if you did not have backup copies of them.
2. When you have a virus that you can’t fix
If a virus has entered your computer, it is possible that your data is partly affected. There will be infected files that you cannot or should not open. And, therefore, there will also be files that are unrecoverable, so you may want to be able to restore backups of your files with a date prior to the virus.
3. If you are going to format your computer
Although there are different ways to do it without deleting your data, it is always convenient to have a backup if you are going to format your PC. If you want to put your computer as it came from the factory, leaving it zero and completely clean, but not lose your files, then it is convenient to have backups.
This is especially important when we are talking not only about single files, but databases with a lot of information about products, invoicing, etc.
4. When you move to another location
If your company is moving to another location and buying new computers, it is important that you have all the common information.
In these cases, you can do this through backups, or by setting up a VPN server so that the different subsidiaries or branches of your business can connect and view your data.
5. When you make a mistake
If you have made a mistake and need to revert to an older version of a file, you can restore your backup. This is especially useful if for example you are doing large jobs, where you need to have different copies or versions per day to be able to be sure you can revert back when needed.
We hope you found these tips useful and now you know why it is important to back up your data in the cloud.
